Synopsis:

There’s snow in the Midwest. I am spending the Holidays in the Midwest. I am bringing skis to the Midwest.

Java Porn: Lots of this…

Midwest TR still pictures below:

As the mega storm hit Tahoe, I barely made it to O’hare at 1am…

By the time I reached my destination, it looked like this…

No time for a powder day, its time to head downtown…

While on Rush street, I snapped a photo of this guy…

but ultimately was able to enjoy some fancy xmas tunes!

Back in the burbs, it was feeling nothing like xmas…

So we decided to catch a flight to Cleveland, why not?

It did give us a chance to see the sun.

I arrived to my father-in-law’s sister’s place in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She had some wicked tree skiing right off her back porch.

To the East…

To the West…

SICK!!!!!!!!!!!

This place really gave me that Easter spirit!

Back in Illinois, its time for some solo ski action up at Wilmot Mountain…I can drive, drink coffee, and take a pic at the same time.

Getting pumped!

Oh hell yes! I’m in the freaking ALPS!

With only a couple hours to ride (xmas eve), I met up with Keith, a rippin’ local to show all the HIDDEN goods and to snap some pics! Here, 666 makes A TURN!

Yep…

Keith on the best snow on the hill….

Yep, this guy is MAKING moguls…

It was time to get freaky…

Some of the steepest action on the Illinois border…

Proof that I skinned to the summit…

On xmas day I took a picture of some trees…

But I also went for a run on the treadmill…that’s weird.

Its time to head to the steep slopes of MICHIGAN!

Crisp morning, Tall buildings…

Cooooold!

INDIANA!

Choo-choos…

MICHIGAN!

After a couple stops at McDonalds, we made it to Petosky, our home base.

The first day we headed to Boyne Highlands…

This kid…stoked?

Mom is skiing as well, but her Gotamas are a tad fat….

At lunch we discussed our plan of attack for the afternoon…

That plan involved this insane lift!

After dropping the little off for a nap, I started to get in some real runs with the nieces…

Across the valley, Nub’s was getting their night operation going as well…

OMG, its ALL about the re-groomed!

Gangsta’…

Off to do some night glade skiin’….

Bye bye, nite nite…

The next morning I saw the sun poke out through our window, so I ran down toward Lake Michigan…

Ice near Lake Michigan? No way!

Trippy….

See those mountains in the background? That’s where we’re headed.

Now at Nub’s Nob, you can get a nice view of Boyne Highlands…

The wifey felt sick, so she dropped off the men in her life to slay this:

Oh yeah! First chairlift ever…and in Michigan!

After pissing through his long underwear, we had to improvise to keep him warm…

Luckily, Uncle Jay was around, so the 6′er was able to take a few laps in ze gladez…

Waiting patiently during holiday crowds…

‘Hey dad, let’s hit the kiddie park’…

‘I can totally slay this!’

Conquered, take me to back to California. I’ll even carry my skis to the car.

After 5 hours of this…we’re back in SF!

Warmer in here….its rather cold on the top of the mountain

Julia enjoys skiing…

Hannah wants nothing to do with me….

Time for a snack!!!!

Yummy!

I think its time for Exhibition…

Wassup guys…this is a black run, I hope you are ready…

View from the summit…

Another lap guys? Sweet, I’ll ride by myself….

Starting to dump….

Julia screams to the bottom…

Lights are on, time to hit the road…

Never give a 7 year old your camera at McDonalds….

You end up with pics like these….

Time for bed…

The next day, the little guy gets some Illinois first turns…

Sick!

But at the local ski shop, he wanted bigger boards…

The next day, we hit the backcountry…off the driveway…

‘Dad…seriously?’

First life lesson…

Meanwhile, the next day…the nieces get ready to shred pow…

First chair ride ever, and I’m there…sick!

‘so, how fast do you want to go?’

‘how about switch?’

Looking good for outside of Chicago….

Sun starting to break through…

‘straightline it!’

The healthiest option….

Back to the post xmas rush….

666 makes a midwest carve…

That night, while the little man slept….

Yep, Illinois night backcountry…..

Do i spot a cliff?

Oh hell yes!

Yep, I found a line in the trees…

All in all, I think I spent my time wisely in Illinois….
